For Basic instinct Scott pollutes your home screen with a cascading stream of exploding pop- up videos. This rippling swatch board burps up a map of jerkily associated visual images which spiral into, agitate and corrupt each other in a waterfall effect. Drawing from the visual language of advertising, marketing and the entertainment industry, Scott discusses this media saturated era with the crudeness of makeshift collage in a tumblr of moving images. Digital effects are parodied using an intimate and clumsy home-made technique, while Spring Break pool parties and make-up tutorials lifted from YouTube squish together with frozen supermarket produce, sparkling water and pouts torn from magazines. These create a richly toned hybrid of fun and fantasy, sporing each other like an animated painting from Koon’s Easyfun Ethereal series or a Paolozzi collage.
